Japan for UNHCR, a non-profit organization (hereinafter referred to as "the Association") and the official support organization of the UNHCR (United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees) in Japan, conducts public relations, awareness-raising, and fundraising for individuals, organizations, and corporations to protect and support refugees around the world.

UNHCR is financially supported by the cooperation of national governments and the private sector. We have established the following "Personal Information Protection Policy" and will make every effort to comply with the Personal Information Protection Law by keeping this policy in mind at all times and ensuring that all executives and employees of the Association and all parties involved in the business of the Association are fully aware of it.

 1. The Association will strive to protect personal information by complying with the Personal Information Protection Law and other laws and regulations regarding the handling of personal information, as well as guidelines and other norms set forth by the government.
 2. The Association will acquire personal information in a lawful and appropriate manner and handle it with care.
3. The Association will use personal information only for the purposes necessary to carry out its business, such as public relations and fundraising activities. We will also take measures to ensure that personal information is not used for any other purposes.
4. The Association will not provide personal data to third parties without the prior consent of the individual, except as required by law.
5. The Association will keep personal data accurate and up-to-date, and will take necessary and appropriate measures and corrective actions to prevent unauthorized access, leakage, loss, or damage.
6. When a person requests disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to a third party of his/her own personal data, the Association will promptly respond to the request.
7. The Association will respond appropriately and promptly to complaints about the handling of personal information.
8. The Association shall implement an appropriate management system to protect personal information, and shall strive to raise awareness of the protection of personal information among its officers and employees. In the event that the handling of personal information is outsourced, the Association will conclude an outsourcing agreement that includes a confidentiality clause, and supervise the outsourcing company to ensure that it manages the information appropriately.
9. In order to implement this policy, the Association has established personal information protection rules, which are thoroughly communicated to the Association's officers and employees to ensure that they are implemented.
10. The Association will comply with the Personal Information Protection Law and related laws and regulations when conducting publicity and fundraising activities through direct mailings and other means. If you do not wish to receive any of our mailings, please let us know and we will try to stop sending you future mailings.
